The Touchless Toilet concept embodies most of the components of a regular toilet which can all be operated without using hands

Bhumijo Ltd has recently launched the innovative concept of touchless toilet in Bangladesh to ensure extended levels of safety from the life threatening novel coronavirus.

The first phase of installation at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has been completed with the financial assistance from Unilever Bangladesh Limited and TRANSFORM (a joint initiative of Unilever and DFID).

The touchless toilet concept embodies most of the components of a regular toilet starting from the flush lever, toilet seat cover, wash basin tap, liquid soap and others, which can all be operated without using hands.

CEO Farhana Rashid, also the founder of Bhumijo Ltd, said, “Since the inception of Bhumijo, we tirelessly worked to ensure hygiene at the public toilet facilities as a part of our urban development initiatives, especially in the public sanitation sector. But after the coronavirus outbreak happened, the scenario of public toilets changed.”

“People are now more scared to use public toilet over the concerns of contamination and possibility of virus spread due to the extensive usage of hands during defecation,” he

said adding that the concept of “Touchless Toilet” was introduced to solve this problem.

“This touchless toilet can also be an appropriate solution for the toilets, which are used by a large number of people, like- toilets in offices, factories, banks and schools,” he added.

Bhumijo, one of the new generation start up social enterprises of Bangladesh, started its journey in October 2017 with a commitment to contribute positive impact towards the society.
