Covid-19 spike continues: 76 deaths in 24 hours, positivity rate now 19.36%

Seventy-six people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this the total number of deaths in the country has reached 13,702 and the death rate stands at 1.59 percent.

At least 4,846 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 8,61,150, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 19.36 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.5 percent.

A total of 25,028 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 2,903 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,88,385 and the recovery rate at 91.55 percent.

Among the 76 deceased, 42 were men and 34 were women. Of them, one was between 21-30, eight between 31-40, seven between 41-50, 23 between 51-60 and 37 were above 60 years old, added the release.
