Thirty-four more people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, according to a release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With this, the total number of deaths from the virus in the country has reached 7,020 and the death rate now stands at 1.44 percent.

A total of 1,329 new infections were recorded during the same 24-hour period, taking the total number of infected people to 489,178.

The current positivity rate is 10.52 percent while the total positivity rate is 16.54 percent.

A total of 12,065 samples were tested in laboratories across the country during the 24-hour period.

With 3,185 more Covid-19 patients recovering during the same period, the total number of recoveries now stands at 417,503. The recovery rate is 85.35 percent.

Of the 34 deceased, 23 were men and 11 women. One of them was aged between 31 and 40, nine were between 51 and 60 and 24 were aged above 60, said the DGHS release.
