At least 17 people have died from Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 6,322 and the death rate stands at 1.43 percent.

At least 2,275 new infections were recorded during this period taking the total number of infected people to 4,43,434, according to the release.

The current positivity rate is 14.58 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.91 percent. At least 15,607 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. And 1,709 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 3,58,431 and the recovery rate at 80.83 percent.

Among the 17 deceased, there were 11 men and six women. One of the deceased was between 11-20 years old, one was within 21-30, one was between 31-40, two were between 41-50, two within 51-60, and 10 were above 60 years old, added the release.
