One hundred and eighty-seven people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 24,175 and the death rate stands at 1.70 percent.

At least 6,684 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,18,902, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 20.25 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.87 percent.

A total of 33,001 samples were tested across the country during the period.

At least 11,371 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The recovery rate stands at 91.11 percent.

Among the 187 deceased, 101 were men and 86 were women.

Of them, four were between 21-30 years of age, 10 between 31-40, 20 between 41-50, 40 between 51-60, 58 between 61-70, 39 within 71-80, 14 between 81-90 and two were within 91-100 years old, added the release.
