Two hundred and twenty-six people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today). The daily positivity rate during this period stood at 27.23 percent, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths in the country has reached 17,278 and the death rate stands at 1.61 percent.

At least 12,236 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 10,71,774, dded the release.

A total of 44,941 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours.

At least 8,395 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 905,807and the recovery rate at 84.51 percent.

Among the 226 deceased, 140 were men and 86 women. Of them, one was between 0-10, one was between 11-20, six were between 21-30, 12 between 31-40, 36 between 41-50, 49 between 51-60, 50 were between 61-70, 44 were between 71-80, 22 were between 81-90, three were tetween 91-100 and two were above 100 years of age, added the release.
