Fifty people have died from Covid-19 during 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With this the total number of deaths has reached 9,155 and death rate stands at 1.47 percent.
At least 6,830 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 6,24,594 added the release.
This is the highest number of infections recorded in a day so far in the country. Till yesterday the highest infection number in a day was 6,469. The daily infection number crossed 6,000-mark for the first time yesterday.
The current positivity rate is 23.28 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.21 percent.
A total of 29,339 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).
At least 2,473 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 5,47,411 and the recovery rate at 87.64 percent.
Among the 50 deceased, 40 were men and 10 were women while one was between 21-30 years old, two within 31-40, four between 41-50, 11 within 51-60 and 32 were above 60 years old, added the release.
