Forty-one people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 26,972 and the death rate stands at 1.76 percent.

A total of 25,388 samples were tested across the country and at least 1,953 new infections were recorded in this period, taking the total number of people infected to 1,532,366 added the release.

The current positivity rate is 7.69 percent while the overall positivity rate stands at 16.53 percent.

At least 4,112 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 1,482,933 and the recovery rate is 96.77 percent.

Among the 41 deceased, 25 were men and 16 were women.

Of them, two were between 11-20 years old, one between 31-40 years, seven between 41-50, 14 between 51-60, 10 between 61-70, six between 71-80 and one between 81-90 years old, added the release.
