Two hundred and thirty-five people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 21,397 and the overall death rate at 1.65 percent.

At least 15,776 new infections were reported during this period, taking the overall number of infections to 12,96,093 added the release.

The current positivity rate is 28.54 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.41 percent.

A total of 55,284 samples were tested across the country during the period.

At least 16,297 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 11,25,045 and the recovery rate at 86.80 percent.

Among the 235 deceased, 140 were men and 95 were women.

Of them, one was within 11-20 years old, four were between 21-30, 15 between 31-40, 25 between 41-50, 54 between 51-60, 80 between 61-70, 41 within 71-80, 11 between 81-90 and four between 91-100 years old, added the release.
