One hundred and ninety-eight people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am today, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 24,547 and the death rate stands at 1.70 percent.

At least 7,535 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 14,33,396, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 19.18 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 16.90 percent.

A total of 39,278 samples were tested across the country during the period.

At least 12,905 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 13,14,916 and the recovery rate stands at 91.73 percent.

Among the 198 deceased, 116 were men and 82 were women.

Of them, one was within 11-20 years, nine were between 21-30, 11 between 31-40, 19 between 41-50, 41 between 51-60, 69 between 61-70, 34 within 71-80, 12 between 81-90, two were within 91-100 years old, added the release.
