Eighteen people died from Covid-19 in 24 hours ending at 8:00am yesterday, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country now stands at 27,591 and the death rate stands at 1.77 percent.

At least 794 new infections were recorded during the period, taking the total number of people infected to 15,58,758, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 3.19 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.87 percent.

A total of 24,928 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 834 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 15,19,588 and the recovery rate at 97.49 percent.

Among the 18 deceased, eight were men and 10 were women.

Of them, one was between 31-40, five between 41-50, two between 51-60 and five between 61-70, and five between 71-80 years old years old, added the release.
